Annapurna '99 Group

Willy, Rajendra and I stop for a photo half way between Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) and ABC.  Behind us is Annapurna South.

Annapurna I at Sunrise

After being forced indoors by snow and high winds the afternoon before we wake up to a beautiful sunrise and three inches of fresh snow.

Annapurna Glacier

No where near the size of the Khumbu Glacier in Everest this glacier still looks like it could be on the moon when not covered in snow.

Anatoli Memorial

Memorial to Anatoli Boukreev, the russian climber at the center of controversey surrounding the '96 Everest disaster.  His side of the story can be found in his book The Climb.  He was killed in an avalanche a year later while climbing Annapurna.

ABC Below Fishtail

Here you can see the four lodges at ABC.  The entrance to the Sanctuary is between Fishtail on the left and Hiunchuli on the right.

Willy and Rajendra In Front ofAnnapurna Sanctuary Guest House

When bad weather forced us indoors we played cards, read and ate fried Mars bars at this lodge.  The proprietors here make a great breakfast and are incredibly efficient at serving up your order.
